I was surprised at the quality of the DVR. The cameras are cheap, but for the price it is good. Works great with the Mac, iphone and ipad with the ASee app on the Apple app store... You can add a couple of 650 line cameras and have a top notch system. Once I found a way to use the system with the Mac, I was happy. (Posted on 6/10/12)

This system packs a massive load of value for the price paid. If you're looking for a basic camera system with decent camera images, then this is what you're looking for. By no means is it a commercial level feature packed system that can produce "High Definition Images". It cannot see fine detail, but produces usable images to see mischef around your property or business. For example, if you want to know which neighbor is messing with your car or who's dog took a crap on your lawn, you can probably identify someone you've seen before. The closer you can get a subject to these cameras the more detail you can see.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS:
The DVR looked exactly as I intended. It was a good size and included a Western Digital 500GB Green Drive with a very recent manufacturing date. The cameras were smaller than I thought. No problem with that. All metal construction. Looked perfect for my installation. Everything was packed well in China!!

INSTALLATION:
I had already wired up my house with Siamese RG59/power cabling. I used no crimp BNC connectors and cut off the power plugs that were on the supplied bundles of camera cables. I spliced the plugs to the power cabling at the camera end and DVR. (Note: I used crimp caps with a little corrosion compound for the connections outside) If you're going to do this make sure you dont damage the conductors while stripping. Use the proper strippers and crimpers!! The supplied power wire is very delicate (looked like 30awg wire). I mounted the cameras on the underside of my roof soffits. I won't get into much detail on that. Every application is different. I can say the supplied brackets worked out well. I had to mess with the cheap ball socket to get the camera to hold the position I wanted. I'll try to post a picture of how I mounted them. (Posted on 5/25/12)

Got the system for $220, fast shipping, plug and play installation was easy, the plastic screw that tights the camera in position broke, but that was my fault, just be careful when putting cameras in position, image quality is not the best but does the trick for my small apartment, night vision works well, dvr software is a little outdated but somehow user-friendly for the average person with little computer experience. i'm doing my internet setup it seems complicated but will be doable with a little of web research. Overall happy with the unit, serves to my purposes .... need to check on my kids when they get back from school and on my yorkie who is alone while we are gone. (Posted on 5/23/12)

OK. If you're looking for a system that will get license plates and make out facial features in HD. Then this is not the system . If you're looking for a general inexpensive system with a hard drive. With decent daylight features search and playback mode than this is the system for you. The cameras are cheaply made with little or no focus options. The network setup is a little difficult. And could be more user friendly But what you want for under $300

The night vision works as good as a blind owl. In daylight. the setup of very easy anyone could set it up. I do recommend a monitor be used to set the system up initially .

This product is very good for the price.
Night vision really works,just not far away.
Dvr is very complicating to set up through network.
Port forwarding and stuff with your router.if your computer skills are not that great,you'll need someone to set it up for you.
I had to hire an IT guy. Cost me $200.
If you know someone thats good with computers than your all set.

Everything works great, cameras are good too but you aren't going to capture every freckle on a guys face. Everything you need right out of the box except a special locking video output cable or adapter to regular RCA whick you will need to review the recoreded video on a TV. The field of view is good. The DVR is great, if you need great detail on a particular channel (it has four) then swap out the camera with a higher end one on that channel. Also with the adjustable mounts the plastic wing nuts crack when you over tighten them so I used pliers to tighten the remaining stud to get a real solid position. Get it! (Posted on 4/30/12)

I was very disappointed in this system. For one the instruction book is printed so small that two adults with a magnifying glass couldn't read it! Cameras show the grass, bushes, etc. as pink and the sidewalk green! Called tech support and they said, yep that's the way it is because of "cheap cameras". It doesn't work at all at night (can't see a thing) when it is needed most! If what you are expecting to get is what they have on the box, think again! (Posted on 4/8/12)
